Library Media and technology grades

  • Locates, evaluates, and utilizes informational and fictional text for personal growth and independent learning
  • Effectively, safely and responsibly uses technology and digital media for problem solving and computer science concepts

Library Science standards

The following are an adaptation of the American Association of School Librarian Standards for Learners, 2017

INQUIRE: I will build new knowledge by inquiring, thinking critically, identifying problems, and developing strategies for solving problems.

When I Think
  • I will ask questions on school topics or on my own interests
  • I will add to what I already know on a subject
When I Create
  • I will use evidence to investigate questions
  • I will follow a plan to fill in the gaps in my knowledge (like the Big Six)
  • I will create a product or presentation to show what I learned
When I Share
  • I will interact with work that others present
  • I will make suggestions to help others improve their work
  • I will act on helpful comments from others to improve my work
  • I will share my learning with people in the real world
I Grow when I
  • Continue to ask questions and look for answers
  • Come to new understanding through my connections with the world
  • Reflect and use what I have learned to guide my decisions
INCLUDE: I will demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to inclusiveness and respect for diversity in the learning community.

  • I will collect information that represents different viewpoints
  • I will question and evaluate the truth and accuracy of the information I find

  • I will understand the ethical use of information, technology and media
  • I will evaluate information for accuracy, validity, context and appropriateness
When I Create
  • I will ethically use and reproduce others’ work
  • I will give credit to authors and respect the intellectual property of others
  • I will include information in my own products that allow others to give credit
When I Share
  • I will share information while following copyright use laws
  • I will share my work through appropriate ways for an intended audience

  • Personalize my use of information and information technologies
  • Reflect on the process of using knowledge ethically
  • Inspire others to behave safely, responsibly, ethically and legally
